Paddle Canada bundles paddling skills and trip planning into each level. Every on-water course includes its online course, so you arrive knowing the theory and spend your water time paddling. Level 3 is our ocean course. For the Great Lakes beyond Level 2, see ORCKA Coastal Kayaking.

ORCKA splits what Paddle Canada bundles. Coastal Kayaking is the skills stream: strokes, rescues and handling conditions. Trip planning and camping live in Kayak Tripping, the next panel. Our Level 2 earns CK1 alongside Paddle Canada Level 2. CK2 and CK3 take your skills further in Great Lakes conditions.

+ORCKA Kayak Tripping, KT1 to KT3
Expedition planning, camping and leadership.
Every Kayak Tripping level has two parts: an online theory course and a field component on a real expedition. You need both to certify, in either order. KT1 needs Level 1 skills. KT2 asks for more: CK1 or Paddle Canada Level 2 skills, a logbook of roughly 500 km and 25 nights of tripping, and age 17 or older.

+Navigation, Nav 1 to Nav 3
Charts, tides and route planning, alongside any level.
Navigation is a supplementary track that runs beside your levels rather than in front of them. Nav 1 is the foundation and comes with our Level 2 courses. Nav 2 covers the full Level 2 navigation syllabus, with live sessions online or at our Hamilton shop, practice charts mailed to you, and Nav 1 included so you can catch up. Nav 3 prepares you for Level 3 and needs Nav 2 first. You are assessed at each level before moving on.
